Leadership 'essential for NHS to survive reforms'
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Strong and effective leadership is essential if the NHS is to survive its proposed forthcoming reforms unscathed, an expert has suggested.
Recently, there have been extensive negotiations between the government and professionals within the healthcare industry with regard to how the system needs to be altered in the wake of the global economic downturn.
This has led to several disputes, with many doctors calling for wholesale changes to the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance's proposals.
And, with this in mind, Jayne Carrington, managing director of Right Management, has said that that the right leadership is essential to "engage and align employees with the vision and direction of the NHS".
Ms Carrington noted that communication is vital if the transition is to go through with all parties pulling in the same direction.
This would appear to be highlighted by the fact that research by Right Management recently revealed that 82 per cent of NHS foundation trust managers think maintaining staff productivity during reforms will be challenging.
