Legislation 'should be introduced to protect mobile phone users'

The government should introduce legislation to ensure that consumers are given greater information about how they can cancel their contracts, according to an expert.
Andrew Lim, editor of Recombu.com, suggested there should be more transparency about how communications arrangements can be changed.
He said it could be made more straightforward to end a deal, adding: "Networks don't always make it easy to figure out that stuff."
Mr Lim also stated: "It would be nice if there was some legislation [which] protected consumers."
The alternative for many people is to scour the internet for any details on forums about how to end an arrangement.
Recently, Top10.com revealed that UK citizens lose more than £800 million per year due to being on the wrong mobile phone tariff.
The site noted that 55 per cent of handset owners on monthly deals always use less than their allocated minutes and may be wasting money.
