Life insurance 'not important' for consumers

Consumers in the UK appear to be unconcerned with the importance of life insurance policies, with research revealing that only four in ten adults in the country have cover, although 55 per cent purchase new clothes every month.

According to price comparison site Confused.com, life insurance is available from just 17p a day but priorities seem to be skewed as, of those without cover, seven per cent buy a high-end cup of tea or coffee every day, 27 per cent splash the cash on music and DVD downloads and 17 per cent have monthly gym subscriptions.

Head of life insurance with the organisation Matthew Lloyd called this emerging trend "worrying", saying: "Life insurance isn't expensive and a small sacrifice like giving up a posh coffee once a week could make a big difference in the event that the worst [happens]."

This follows a study from information portal Unbiased.co.uk revealing that over 30 million adults in Britain currently do not possess a will.ADNFCR-2353-ID-800230352-ADNFCR
