Employment prospects in London appear set to improve in the near future, new research has revealed.

The latest London Business Survey - which involves questioning 188 companies - was published by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and KPMG earlier this week (June 22nd) and showed that many firms are feeling positive about their business prospects in the near future.

It was also found that 57 per cent of companies surveyed across the capital are now hiring as normal in the wake of the recession, while fewer are having to resort to making redundancies.

Recently, the CBI and Harvey Nash indicated that private sector employees are unlikely to enjoy pay rises in the near future, but in this research 51 per cent of firms stated they are optimistic with regard to how their company will perform over the rest of 2011.

Sara Parker, London regional director at the body, observed: "It's great news to see that more London firms are hiring as normal and redundancies have fallen."
