Posted by Emily Jones
Loud voices are one of the most common reasons for disputes between neighbours in the UK, it has been found.
According to Which?, raised voices and arguing were identified by 58 per cent of people polled as the most annoying habit of those who lived in close proximity to them.
Meanwhile, music and TV played at too high a volume was also a cause of tension for 40 per cent of respondents.
Doors slamming and regular parties were cited by 26 per cent and 15 per cent of individuals as a cause of annoyance.
Responding to the figures, Peter Vicary-Smith, chief executive at Which? - an organsition that campaigns for a fairer deal for consumers - said: "If talking amicably with your neighbour about the problem doesn't work, then contact your local authority who will be able to investigate the matter for you."
He added that people should not suffer in silence if they are being disturbed.
