Man set to appeal over 'disgraceful' parking ticket
Posted by Patrick White
Wardens in the north of England have come under fire from one motorist who was penalised because his parking ticket blew upside down.
According to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Dave Swanton was issued with a £25 fine last Saturday (March 12th 2011) after his valid ticket for the Flat Iron car park in the town of Chorley - situated around 28 miles away from Manchester - was reversed by high winds.
Mr Swanton, who works for Sale Sharks rugby club as well as a presenter on BBC Radio Lancashire, told the news source that he paid the charge of £1 for a ticket, but when he returned to his vehicle around 20 minutes later he had been issued with a penalty notice.
The 53-year-old labelled the decision of the warden - who was taking photos of his car when he returned - "a disgrace".
"It's the first time I've ever been given a parking ticket and I didn't deserve it because I had bought one," he added.
