Managers 'must promote positivity'
Posted by Emily Swanson
Emphasising the core values of their company is absolutely essential if managers want to harness a positive atmosphere within their business.
That is the opinion of Wilson Wong, senior researcher at The Work Foundation, who has urged bosses to make sure all their members of staff are fully aware of the principles of the organisation they represent.
Following on from the global economic downturn, many firms have suffered a slump in worker confidence and self-esteem due to issues such as redundancies and pay reductions.
Indeed, a report produced recently by ORC International revealed that employee engagement in Britain has slipped in recent times, with fewer than half of all professionals currently feeling they have a positive relationship with their boss.
However, Mr Wong insisted that fostering a pleasant culture at work is possible through the output of clear, consistent messages and the responsibility for this "ultimately lies with the leadership".
