Managers 'need to encourage workers'
Posted by Emily Swanson
Encouraging a positive working environment by implementing effective motivational techniques is essential for managers in the aftermath of the global economic downturn.
That is according to Dianah Worman, diversity adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), who has urged bosses to remember their responsibilities when it comes to promoting a positive environment even in such testing times.
"In order to keep the traction going you have to have a variety of ways of stimulating the changes that need to be bedded down in businesses," she noted.
Ms Worman explained that giving staff recognition for their achievements is vital to keep energy levels up as an atmosphere of uncertainty and unease is common in many workplaces at present.
"If you want to be really successful as a business then the best way of doing that is helping to engage your employees," he added.
Recently, Edward Saatchi of NationalField stated that businesses are slowly phasing out the use of email in favour of facilitating social media as their primary communication tool.
