Many young Britons 'lacking wills'

Ylr-news-19523525

There are a significant number of young people in the UK who have not drawn up wills, it has been revealed.

According to research conducted by the Fellowship of Professional Willwriters and Probate Practitioners (FPWPP), 85 per cent of consumers aged between 18 and 30 do not have such legal documentation in place.

This means that their estates may not go to the recipients they would choose in the event of their deaths.

Nearly a quarter of people who did not have wills said they considered themselves too young, while the documents' association with death was off-putting for 49 per cent.

Responding to the figures, FPWPP president Rita Leat said: "No one can predict what will happen in the future, so whatever age we are we should all be thinking about our wills."

Recently, Aviva released the findings of a survey which indicated that individuals residing in the south-east of England are the most likely to leave inheritances.
