Market 'good for landlords looking to expand portfolios'

Current market circumstances are ideal for landlords to expand their property portfolios.

That is the view of James Davis, chief executive officer of Upad, who believes that the present situation represents a "real opportunity" for professionals in the buy-to-let sector.

Mr Davis explained this is because the demand for rental accommodation has gone up in recent times as it remains difficult for prospective first-time buyers to access mortgage financing from banks and building societies.

He went on to say that landlords can help make sure they are noticed by possible clients by refreshing their housing listings "at least a couple of times a day".

"You need to keep it at the top of the list, otherwise it is like finding a needle in a haystack," he added.

This comes after Chris Horne, editor at Property Hawk, noted the availability of home loan products for landlords is "slowly increasing", while houses are also becoming "more affordable".
