More Britons 'looking to sell homes'

An increasing number of Britons are feeling more confident with regard to the state of the UK housing market following the recession, an expert has said.

Jane Marr, director at the Little House Company, believes that more homeowners have become optimistic about the prospect of selling their property in recent months as the country continues its recovery in the aftermath of the worldwide economic slump.

Ms Marr noted that even though February was a "quiet month" in terms of sales, there was a noticeable rise in the number of consumers looking to put their property on the market.

"People need to get on with their lives and we are seeing more research, valuations and enquiries on how to sell their homes more cheaply," she said.

This follows on from the latest LSL Property Services/Acadametrics house price index published earlier this month (March 9th 2011) showed that house prices rose by 0.3 per cent in February.
