More employers 'offering salary sacrifice schemes'
Posted by Chris Stevenson
More companies across all sectors are now offering salary sacrifice schemes to their employees, an expert has said.
According to Sheila Attwood - pay and benefits director at XpertHR, a body that provides human resources solutions for firms - the last five years have witnessed an upturn in the number of organisations providing this benefit.
Ms Attwood noted that figures show that in 2007, "just over 40 per cent of companies" offered a salary sacrifice initiative, but this has "gradually increased" to more than 63 per cent since then.
"It is something that has really increased in popularity," she stated.
However, despite this trend, the expert added that the most common benefits provided to staff have remained the same throughout this time period as firms are aware of what their workers want.
"Childcare vouchers, pensions and cycle to work schemes are the top three ones all the way through," Ms Attwood explained.
