The divorce between Morgan Freeman and his now ex-wife Myrna Colley-Lee has been finalised, with the decree entered on September 15th.

It comes after 26 years of marriage, although the couple had officially separated in December 2007.

Freeman's lawyer William Wright noted that the split had been managed amicably and went on to say: "It was done without a trial. Everybody is glad it's over."

Over the past few years, the actor has been the subject of much gossip, including the rumour that he had been having an affair with Demaris Meyer, although she denied this.

Meyer herself has complained in the past about being wrongly described as "the other woman" and "accused of having caused the break-up of Mr Freeman's marriage".

It has also been claimed that the Shawshank Redemption star had begun a relationship with step-granddaughter E'Dena Hines and maintained a long-term connection with mistress Mary Joyce Hays.
