The majority of people in the UK are still concerned about motoring crime, despite Admiral research revealing that the percentage of its customers who have had cars stolen is under half what it was five years ago.

According to the insurance provider's third annual Survey of British Motorists, questioning 2,100 adults, 78 per cent are worried about their vehicles being taken or broken into, with only 15 per cent convinced that crime in this regard is falling.

In spite of the fact that the percentage of individuals whose automobiles were tampered with has dropped by two-thirds in the last five years, 26 per cent believe that this type of crime has increased in the past 12 months.

Managing director Sue Longthorn said: "Our car is one of the most valuable things we own and for much of the time we leave it unattended parked on the road or in a car park."ADNFCR-2353-ID-800217132-ADNFCR
