Motorists issued refunds over incorrect speeding tickets
A number of drivers who were issued speeding tickets have been issued refunds.
The individuals were travelling on a road near Bala, which is situated by a lake of the same name in north Wales, when they were clocked by a mobile speed camera, the BBC reports.
Around 300 motorists in total were subject to the tickets.
They received the penalties because they exceeded 30mph. However, they were in a zone which in fact had a 40mph limit.
Regulations to reduce the limit had not been made.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: "Following an inquiry by a member of the public, Gwynedd County Council carried out a review of the relevant road traffic order and discovered that the original road traffic order had not been revoked."
While the system of street lighting had in place reflected a 30mph speed limit, it was still a 40mph zone, he confirmed.
