Motorists 'should regularly update driving skills'

Motorists should strive to make sure they regularly brush up on their driving knowledge and skills after they have passed their test, an expert has stated.
According to Kevin Clinton, head of road safety at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, this is vital as it ensures individuals are up-to-date with the latest rules and regulations.
"It's important to maintain and update our driving abilities because it's very easy to become a bit complacent about our driving," he noted.
Recently, research conducted by motor oil firm Castrol established that 66 per cent of all British motorists are puzzled by basic road signs on a daily basis.
And Mr Clinton indicated this is not particularly surprising, as the only formal training the majority of drivers undergo is when they take their initial lessons, meaning they are likely to develop bad road habits without even realising it over the years.
