Mourners' parking tickets rescinded

Parking tickets given to motorists attending funerals in one area of northern England have been rescinded.
According to the Grimsby Telegraph, penalties of £70 were dished out to mourners as they attended ceremonies in Grimsby because of where their vehicles had been left at the town's crematorium on Weelsby Road.
Complaints made by residents to the news source revealed that seven tickets had been issued to people grieving the loss of loved ones at the location and Jason Longhurst of North East Lincolnshire Council labelled this "unacceptable" and pledged to rescind them.
And this has now occurred, much to the pleasure of those affected.
Val Gautby, a 72-year-old local woman, was given a penalty while in attendance at the funeral of her daughter's nephew and commented: "I'm pleased that common sense has prevailed, but I still can't believe the wardens handed out the tickets in the first place."
This comes after the Manchester Evening News reported recently that Jim Meehan, a disabled man, had a £40 ticket revoked after being issued with it for staying too long in a supermarket car park.
