New car insurance law 'will make roads safer'
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Motorists in the UK will be able to enjoy safer roads across the country following the government's implementation of a new law surrounding car insurance.
That is according to Robert Gifford, executive director at the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety, who has welcomed the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance's Continuous Enforcement Law as positive for all aspects of the motoring industry.
As of earlier this week (June 20th) it is against the law for people to keep an uninsured vehicle, meaning it is not now just illegal to use such a car.
This was described last month by road safety minister Mike Penning as a "tough new law" designed to show the coalition's zero-tolerance approach to uninsured driving and Mr Gifford concurs with this view.
He stated that the ruling "should help to improve road safety", while also reducing the premiums faced by motorists at present as "uninsured driving adds about £30 to every premium of every insured driver".
