New initiative launched to help with disputes between neighbours

Ylr-news-19216666

A new scheme has been launched in Bury to help people resolve disputes they may be having with their neighbours.

The Whitefield office of Contour Homes has teamed up with Bury council's anti social behaviour team and Irwell Valley Housing Association to provide a mediation service for local residents.

Commenting on the offering, Ann Walton from Contour Homes said: "This scheme is quite unique because it is bringing together housing experts from different organisations.

"All parties are 'loaning' their experts free of charge in order to provide an impartial service to people living in Bury."
She added that the service is aimed at neighbours who have fallen out and are at the stage where they can no longer talk to each other.

The pilot initiative is due to last for a year.

Recently, the expressandstar.com reported that a dispute that had been ongoing between neighbours concerning the height of a hedge culminated in its owner being order to cut it and pay fines and costs.
