If you've made a new year's resolution to get a new job in 2008, make sure you get all the job benefits you're entitled to.

In 2007, the government introduced an extra four days holiday, meaning you are now entitled to 24 days paid holiday a year.

New mums and dads can also now benefit from extra leave and pay measures. Mothers and adopters are now entitled to nine months statutory maternity or adoption pay.

Parents are also entitled to up to 13 weeks leave to look after young and disabled children and have the right to a reasonable amount of unpaid time off work to deal with any emergency involving a dependant. Carers also now have the right to request flexible working.

The minimum wage also increased to £5.52 an hour if you are over 22, £4,60 if you're 18-21 and £3.40 if you're 16-17.
