NHS 'faces tough times ahead'
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Professionals in the healthcare industry need to pull together if the NHS is to survive the government's latest round of reforms, an expert has said.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance is to implement a range of alterations to the NHS after taking on board suggestions made by the Future Forum and various other groups.
The administration believes such alterations are necessary in order to modernise the system following the recession.
However, Dr Hamish Meldrum, council chairman at the British Medical Association (BMA), has today (June 27th) warned professionals to expect a tough period in the near future.
He said "these are very difficult times" and added the "only way the NHS can come through is for there to be a real and shared commitment between all of us".
Dr Meldrum went on to state that trust must be built between the industry and the government.
