NHS reform review 'a step in the right direction'

The prime minister's decision to backtrack on several of the government's proposals for NHS reform is a positive step, a specialist in the industry has said.
Recent plans unveiled by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance to alter the UK's present healthcare system were met with widespread derision by professionals on the grounds they were too extreme.
In a speech delivered earlier this week (June 7th), David Cameron has ceded to the demands of doctors and nurses by revealing that the coalition will re-evaluate this proposals.
"I want us to make sure we pursue the right change and deliver it in the right way," he stated.
And according to Dr Hamish Meldrum, council chairman at the British Medical Association, this represents an "encouraging" sign as it shows the views of such professionals have been listened to.
However, the official has reservations over Mr Cameron's indication that he will support competition in the sector, as this has been "damaging" in the past.
