Older Britons 'tend to be more financially savvy'
Posted by Emily Swanson
Older Britons are generally more financially prudent than younger members of the population due to their greater levels of discipline.
That is the opinion of eco warrior Philippa Forrester, who believes senior citizens' "old-fashioned approach" to money means they are less likely to encounter debt-related problems than other age groups.
Ms Forrester explained that more often than not, these people tend to stay within their means and are not as willing to borrow funds as younger individuals.
However, this attitude could have a negative impact on their health as a study by Anglian Home Improvements has revealed that around 20 per cent of all British households will not use their central heating until November to save cash.
And the expert went on to say this means these people must be offered help and assistance in the coming months.
"Older people are very vulnerable to getting too cold because they are moving around less," she added.
