Older people in the UK are becoming more determined to carry on working even after they pass the statutory retirement age of 65, new research has revealed.

According to a study published today (January 11th) by Aviva, senior professionals are now willing to continue earning money through either maintaining their current career path or by taking on a part-time position elsewhere.

Indeed, the survey established that 86 per cent of people in this age group are of the opinion they could do a better job than some of their younger counterparts fulfilling similar positions.

Furthermore, 83 per cent believe they are more practical than less senior people.

Clive Bolton of Aviva commented: "As individuals face an increasingly challenging economic environment, it seems that for many the dream retirement is now one in which they can maintain their quality of life by remaining economically active."

This comes after Vodafone established recently that 30 per cent of professionals continue carrying out their work duties even when they are on holiday. ADNFCR-2353-ID-801261167-ADNFCR
