Older people 'must be aware of financial help'
Posted by Francesca Witney
Older people should do everything possible to make sure they are receiving all the financial assistance they are entitled to in the wake of the recession.
That is the advice offered by Annie Shaw, founder of online resource Cash Questions, who has called on senior individuals to be savvy with their money during such fragile financial times.
Ms Shaw urged people to "make sure they are getting the most out of things, like their savings" by moving away from accounts and packages offering poor rates of income by switching, while also being careful with regard to any risky investments they may be involved in.
Earlier this week (January 24th), an ICM poll found that more than 50 per cent of those over the age of 50 are finding it more difficult to live on their incomes now than they did one year ago.
And, with this in mind, Ms Shaw said it is crucial for them to know what help they are entitled to.
