Passport losses 'are easily preventable'
Many travellers in the UK could do more to ensure their passport remains safe when holidaying abroad.
The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) highlighted government figures which showed that more than 60,000 Britons had this document lost or stolen between April 2009 and March 2010.
As such, IPS is advising people to take a number of steps in order to reduce the element of risk when travelling overseas.
For instance, it may be a good idea to take a photocopy of a passport abroad and keep it separate, with another copy left at home.
The expert also advised that it is important for people to practice an element of caution if they are asked to surrender this travel document at any point.
Elsewhere, those keen to obtain an insurance deal might be interested to learn that Endsleigh recently calculated the cost of the possessions taken by students to university.
Typically, learns will take almost £4,000 worth of items to their higher education institution.
