People are prepared to pay thousands of pounds extra for homes if they believe they will be unlikely to have disputes with their neighbours.
This is according to research conducted by Lloyds TSB Insurance, which revealed that consumers are willing to spend an average of £3,100 more on residences if they think those living close to them will be nice.
It also found that homeowners in Bradford are identified as the most considerate and tolerant, while those in Swansea are the tidiest and Glasgow hosts the most friendly.
Responding to the study, spokeswoman for Lloyds TSB Insurance Paula Llewellyn said: "Good neighbours can have an invaluable impact on our wellbeing and can help keep our property safe while away from home."
She went on to say that people may wish to consider setting up Neighbourhood Watch schemes, as they can enhance security and bring communities together.
Recently, Which? released figures that revealed raised voices and arguing were identified by 58 per cent of people as the most annoying habit of neighbours.
