People thinking of confronting nuisance neighbours 'should consider safety'
People planning to confront neighbours who have been acting in an antisocial way should consider their personal safety, an expert has advised.
According to Veronica Dawson, manager of mediation services in the crime and disorder team at Manchester City Council, it is inadvisable to speak to them alone, the Mirror reports.
She said: "If you want to approach your neighbours yourself, always think about your safety. It's a good idea to take someone with you so long as it's not a posse."
Ms Dawson went on to recommend that people with grievances address the subject of their frustration in a polite and calm way as shouting will worsen the situation.
She also pointed out that it is possible to phone local councils for advice about nuisance neighbours and many authorities offer mediation services.
Last month, Halifax Home Insurance suggested that reports of disputes between neighbours have increased by a third in two years.
