Pets 'causing disputes between neighbours'
Pets are causing many disputes between neighbours, according to the findings of a recent study.
Conducted by esure pet insurance, the research revealed that 4.3 million UK households find the animals owned by nearby residents to be a nuisance.
In addition, 18 per cent of people have had arguments with neighbours as a result of pets, with six per cent of these involving violence or aggression.
Among the grievances animals were identified as causing were lack of sleep and destruction of property.
Meanwhile, six per cent of those polled said they have reported offending animals to the police because they feared for the safety of their families.
Head of esure pet insurance Mike Pickard stated: "Unruly pets can turn a peaceful neighbourhood into a battleground and a garden fence into the frontline."
He added that animal owners have a responsibility to make sure they are well-trained.
Founded in 2000 by Peter Wood, esure has three offices in the UK and is headquartered in Reigate, Surrey.
