Planning ahead 'can prevent Christmas debt'
Posted by Emily Swanson
People can avoid the financial stress associated with Christmas by planning ahead effectively.
That is the advice of Adrian Pickersgill, director at Chatfield Private Client, who has urged consumers to begin preparing for the festive period as early as possible to avoid having to get into debt by using personal finance options like loans or credit cards.
Mr Pickersgill explained that many individuals are still paying off last Christmas, meaning their "debt mountain continues to grow".
With this in mind, the expert indicated it is a good idea to "start saving a small amount every month from January", as doing so will enable Britons to spread the cost of the festive season equally across the year.
"Christmas is about family and being with your loved ones, it is not about money," he added.
Recently, Stuart Carmichael of the Debt Support Trust urged people to avoid the temptation of taking out a payday loan.
