Property dispute sees teenager blow up car
Posted by Mark Cunningham
A property dispute involving a fallen fence panel culminated in a 19-year-old creating a homemade bomb to blow up a car, Southampton Crown Court has been told.
Robert White made the improvised explosive using a scaffold pipe and fireworks powder, which he then placed next to the car belonging to his aunt and uncle's neighbours, the Daily Mail reports.
Substantial damage was caused to the Vauxhall Vectra in question by the blast, which sent shrapnel over 30 ms away.
"It started with something as trivial as a fence being blown over by high winds, there was a loss of privacy, there were arguments and complaints to the council," said Stephen Parish, prosecuting, adding that debris could be found up to 34 ms away from the vehicle.
This comes after Bin Buddy found that property disputes with neighbours often involve wheelie bins, with more than one in three families entering into arguments with others on their streets as a result.
