Property market 'remains depressed in 2011'

People interested in buying a new house in the near future might be interested to hear one expert's opinion about the state of the market following the recession.
According to David Amstell, founder of online resource Briffy, confidence surrounding the future performance of the sector remains "very depressed" in the aftermath of the global economic downturn, a sentiment which is not likely to change any time soon.
"It is going to be a long, hard slog for the next few years. People, if they didn't already realise, are coming to the conclusion now that things aren't getting any better," he said.
Mr Amstell explained that "nothing has changed" in the sector and noted that it represents an underlying problem for the wider economy.
This comes after Zoopla.co.uk reported recently that homeowner confidence hit its lowest level for more than two years in December 2010.
