Consumers may experience difficulty getting on the housing ladder in 2012 as the property market is unlikely to improve in the coming months.

This is according to Graham Lock, director of Housenetwork.co.uk, who suggested the current economic climate will have a negative impact on all areas next year.

He went on to claim estate agents will also experience a tough time as the only relocations seem to be non-luxury, regarding those getting divorced or moving for work.

However, the expert did predict that certain areas of London could enjoy improved activity due to the spotlight being placed on the capital as part of the Olympic Games.

"I think in the first six months [of 2012], you'll see a five per cent [increase] and then it depends on the legacy of the Olympics - what's going to happen after," Mr Lock added.

This comes after Jason Beedell, head of research at Smiths Gore, predicted first-time buyers would experience difficulty finding their ideal rural home in the coming months.ADNFCR-2353-ID-801250441-ADNFCR
