Protecting the home 'an important step for holidaymakers'
Those planning on taking off on their summer holidays may agree that it is important to ensure their home is given sufficient protection.
And according to M&S Money, a high proportion of UK citizens are planning on leaving their residence unoccupied during their travels.
In fact, research undertaken by the group revealed that 51 per cent of jetsetters will leave their home empty.
Moreover, 24 per cent stated they would not ask someone to check up on their property during their excursion.
The organisation advised that homeowners could inform a trusted neighbour or friend that they are going away.
It may also be a wise idea to get someone to clear away any post from the door mat, while those who can put their lights on a timer should consider doing so.
Holidaymakers might agree that it is important to get adequate insurance cover for an overseas adventure.
Kate Saines recently wrote a piece for MyFinances.co.uk which claimed such deals often work out "cheaper than many people expect".
