Purchasing a car 'can be cheaper online'
People planning to buy a car may be able to save money by going online, it has been suggested.
According to Autoquake.com, consumers have managed to conserve almost £10 million this year by using its services rather than visiting dealerships in person.
The firm suggested that using the web to source a vehicle can result in savings averaging £1,352.
Founder of Autoquake.com Fredrik Skantze described this as a "huge saving".
He added: "Ten million is enough to buy 1,796 first-class round the world tickets, 37 Maybach limousines or 15 Sunseeker powerboats."
The lower costs associated with running businesses over the internet are one factor contributing to the cost savings consumers can benefit from when purchasing over the web, he claimed.
Recently, chancellor Alistair Darling announced a new measure which may benefit those looking to buy electric cars.
He revealed that such vehicles will be exempt from company car tax for five years.
