Rental arrears 'worrying for landlords'
The level of rental arrears being experienced by landlords in the UK has been described as worrying.
Recently, the National Landlords' Association, which is headquartered in London and represents over 18,000 fee-paying members, revealed that 28 per cent of landlords experienced such cash flow problems during the last quarter.
Although this was a fall on the 32 per cent recorded during the previous three-month period, it is still an issue of concern, the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (Arla) said.
The organisation commented: "Rental arrears are more common during a recession as redundancies occur and tenants' financial stability changes."
It is important that those renting properties who are struggling to meet payments are supported, it added.
The Arla went on to say that using a letting agent which is a member of a professional association is one way in which landlords can avoid rental arrears as they ensure that suitable tenants are selected for renting properties.
