Rental market to be 'quite strong' in 2011
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Landlords appear set to benefit from a high level of demand for their residential properties in the near future.
That is the opinion of David Lawrenson, private sector rented expert at online resource Letting Focus, who noted that while some risks in terms of renting out houses still exist, the overall outlook for the market looks "quite strong".
Mr Lawrenson explained that it is important for professionals in the buy-to-let sector to make sure the homes they are offering are priced correctly, as any overvaluation will probably lead to a period where their dwellings remain empty.
"The only thing is to get the price right; if you are too greedy on the rent then you won't get a tenant. You have got to know your business," he added.
Research published by LSL Property Services last week (April 15th) showed that average rental charges went up by 0.4 per cent in March and have therefore now increased by a total of 4.2 per cent in the last 12 months.
