Rental prices to 'hold up in near future'

People looking to lease a residential property in the near future are likely to benefit from stagnated rental charges, it has been suggested.

According to Mark Garner, managing director at LettingZone, the average cost of leasing a home looks set to "hold up" over the next few months and will therefore not rise sharply.

Mr Garner explained that "rents could go up three to five per cent perhaps, but no more than that and certainly not less than they are currently" as landlords recognise the present condition of the UK's housing market.

His comments came after the publication of statistics by Paragon last week (April 26th), which showed that 49 per cent of all landlords saw their level of tenant demand expand during the first quarter of the year.

The LettingZone official concluded that activity in the rental sector will probably dip slightly throughout the summer before rising again later on in the year.
