Rental property demand 'going through the roof'

Landlords are set to enjoy a prolonged period of strong demand for their rental properties in the near future, an expert in the industry has said.

According to James Davis, chief executive officer at online letting agent Upad, the clamour for abodes to lease is "going through the roof" at present and is subsequently outstripping the level of supply available in the sector.

Mr Davis explained that his organisation has seen enquiries regarding rental homes go up by 300 per cent in the previous 12 months, while stock of such dwellings has only doubled in volume throughout the same period.

Indeed, research published by the National Landlords Association last week (August 25th) showed that optimism among buy-to-let professionals is now at its highest point for nearly four years.

And the Upad official went on to indicate this is likely to result in more landlords looking to increase the size of their portfolios, as they represent the only group able to access finance at the moment.
