Pay awards in the human resources (HR) sector look set to remain largely static next year, new research has revealed.

According to a study conducted by IDS, more than half of all HR professionals working in leading British companies are planning to make the same level of wages in 2012 as they have this year.

The survey revealed that many individuals are finding it difficult to predict the direction of their salaries at the moment due to factors such as high inflation, low interest rates and a feeling of uncertainty over the state of the country's economic recovery.

However, despite this, around one-third indicated that they intend to raise pay awards slightly in the coming 12 months or so.

Ken Mulkearn, editor of the IDS Pay Report, commented: "If the recession recedes, there may be pressure for higher awards, particularly at firms where increases were lower or zero before."

Recently, research by Adzuna revealed that people with 2:2 or Third class university degrees earn an average of £8,000 less than those who get a First or 2:1 classification.ADNFCR-2353-ID-800743893-ADNFCR
