A large proportion of senior professionals are planning to stay in their jobs after they reach retirement age, a new study has shown.

Research published by LV= today (November 25th) revealed that 28 per cent of all over-50s expect to still be working after they hit 65.

This represents a total of 6.1 million Britons, with the average amount of time they expect to spend in employment following this landmark being an additional six years.

The Working Late Index established that 51 per cent of this age group want to continue working due to fears over whether they will be able to afford their retirement, with 43 per cent indicating this is the case because they enjoy their job.

Ray Chinn, LV= head of pensions, observed that this trend is likely to continue growing in the near future.

This comes after Phil Flaxton of Work Wise UK indicated that Britain's employment sector will be characterised by sluggish growth over the coming months. ADNFCR-2353-ID-801221753-ADNFCR
