Shortage of rental properties 'set to continue'
Posted by Craig Williams
Prospective tenants may find it tough to find a rental property ideal for their individual needs in the near future, an expert has suggested.
According to Chris Horne, editor at Property Hawk, the demand for homes to let in the UK will continue to rise in the coming months, therefore meaning the supply of such dwellings is likely to fall.
Mr Horne explained that landlords must seek to "slowly plug the gap" sooner rather than later as there are currently "not overly restrictive regulations" in place in the industry.
Last week (July 13th), the Association of Residential Letting Agents revealed that 74 per cent of its members felt there were more potential tenants in the sector than available properties in the second quarter of the year.
However, the Property Hawk official went on to say that the ongoing trend of financiers tightening their buy-to-let lending criteria is "still hampering landlords' ambitions to increase their portfolio".
