Skiers holidaying 'without insurance'
Posted by Cheryl Bennett
Consumers planning skiing and snowboarding holidays this year or next could be faced with bills totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds if they do not take out travel insurance.
According to Axa, approximately 17 per cent of British adults enjoy such trips away, but of these ten per cent leave without cover.
It was also found that many are confused as to what their policies involve, with one in three believing they will not be covered for transport home if injured and 19 per cent thinking their insurance does not include accidents.
Amanda Edwards of the company said cutting back on cover is a false economy, even when times are hard.
"Dealing with an injury is stressful enough but having no insurance could mean the damage lasts until long after the plaster cast has been removed," she remarked.
Her comments come after Confused.com revealed that life insurance policies seem to be considered unimportant, with only four in ten adults in the country having cover.
