Sound insurance policy 'a crucial factor for higher education learners'

Ylr-news-800042419

Getting a comprehensive insurance policy in place could be an important step for those heading to university.

A representative from the Association of British Insurers described the valuable nature of possessions taken by students.

He said that although insurance cover is not always the first thing on people's minds, "unfortunately a lot of student areas have higher burglary rates".

The spokesperson listed some of the items that such individuals typically keep in their residence, including laptops, iPods and other music systems.

He added that consumers should "shop around to make sure that they get the most appropriate cover for them".

Moreover, those with specialist equipment such as musical instruments might have different requirements to anyone with less valuable objects.

With UCAS recently revealing that 432,524 people have accepted places on a university course for the upcoming academic year, now could be a good time for many soon-to-be students to obtain some expert insurance advice.
