Tenants 'will see rents remain steady in 2011'
Posted by Craig Williams
Tenants in many areas of the UK are set to benefit from steady rental charges from their landlords in 2011, an expert believes.
According to Chris Horne, editor of online resource Property Hawk, the majority of landlords across much of the country will opt to keep their charges static in the coming months, which could be good news for tenants in the wake of the global economic downturn.
However, Mr Horne warned individuals that "rents certainly won't be falling any time soon" and added that in some areas where there is a consistently high level of demand, such as London, they may "continue to rise".
Recently, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors revealed in a report that average rents increased at a "rapid pace" in the three months up to the end of January 2011.
The Property Hawk official added that this is because supply is currently failing to keep up with demand in the sector.
