Thousands move home to escape neighbours, study finds
Across the UK, many people are moving home to escape their neighbours, according to research conducted by Abbey Mortgages.
The firm found that 95,000 homeowners left their residences as a result of irritating neighbours over the course of the last two years.
Abbey - which has been part of the Santander Group since 2004 - made the discovery while conducting a study into the reasons why people choose to move house.
Responding to the figure, the firm's Nici Audhlam-Gardiner said: "The saying 'love thy neighbour' seems long forgotten as so many of us plan to move each year just to get away from those next door."
Abbey Mortgages also cited figures produced by the Council of Mortgage Lenders which showed a total of 680,000 consumers who have a home loan moved residences during the last two years.
Moving up the property ladder was the most commonly cited reason for the change.
