Trading standards take action over building work complaints
Legal action has been taken by trading standards following numerous complaints over sub-standard building work.
Trading Standards received a total of 22 complaints from customers who had paid nearly £250,000 between them, the Leicester Mercury reports.
The firms involved in the case were D and H Builders and H Builders.
During a recent hearing at Leicester county court, the firms were ordered to ensure that jobs they undertook were carried out on time and were finished to a reasonable standard.
Following the case, one family revealed it is suing the firms and others are expected to follow suit.
The complaints brought by customers include one instance where a family were left with an extension without a roof and a conservatory without walls.
Trading Standards exists to visit, inspect and test products and services to make sure they conform to set standards.
It also provides consumers and businesses with advice on a range of issues.
