Travellers 'must take out insurance before gap year'
Posted by Emily Swanson
Britons heading abroad on a gap year should look to take out a travel insurance package sooner rather than later, an expert has said.
According to Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, finding a suitable product for their individual needs is a simple task for consumers, as long as it is one of their main priorities before they leave home.
Mr Hall explained that it is worth signing up for a deal early on in the planning process for such an excursion, as this eliminates the possibility of it being forgotten while also avoiding the "difficult" task of sorting it out while overseas.
Recently, research conducted by LV= revealed that many travellers are abandoning the idea of going on a gap year in favour of a five-week break instead.
However, the Lonely Planet official insisted this changes nothing in terms of the importance of obtaining quality insurance as "coverage is key".
