UK drivers 'spending unnecessary cash at the pump'

Ylr-news-800025233

Those looking to cut down on their motoring expenditure might be interested to learn that a high proportion of Britons appear to be wasting cash via unnecessary automotive expenditure.

According to MSN Money, one in ten drivers confessed that they sometimes mistakenly fill their car with diesel rather than petrol.

This equates to £100 in lost cash each time, which, in terms of the nation at large, amounts to an extra £547 million.

In addition, one in ten London drivers claim they waste money by failing to pay the city's Congestion Charge, meaning those in the capital miss out on a total of £91 million a year.

As a whole, the study revealed that these mistakes add up to an overall figure of £2.4 billion.

Moreover, Britons might also be aware that the Identity and Passport Service recently revealed that more than 60,000 citizens lost this travel document or had it stolen between April 2009 and March 2010.
