UK jobs market 'to remain stagnant'

Sluggish growth will continue to characterise the UK's job market in the near future, it has been said.

According to Phil Flaxton, chief executive officer of Work Wise UK, the sector has struggled to recover in the wake of the global economic downturn and this trend will carry on in the coming months.

Earlier this week (November 14th), the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's autumn Labour Market Outlook showed that the country's employment situation will deteriorate further throughout the fourth quarter of the year.

Mr Flaxton agrees with this sentiment and added that individuals looking for jobs in the future will find the market more competitive than ever.

"Reluctantly, I think we could see in the New Year, during the first six months, a rise in unemployment figures," he noted.

However, the Work Wise UK official went on to indicate that the UK is not likely to follow the pattern of nations like Spain, France and Italy, where joblessness has "rocketed" recently.ADNFCR-2353-ID-801214142-ADNFCR
